Bangladesh’s all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz will captain the national team in the upcoming three-match ODI series against the West Indies, starting on December 8. This will be Mehidy’s first time leading the team in the ODI format, as regular captain Najmul Hossain Shanto continues to recover from a groin injury. Mehidy is also currently standing in as captain for the ongoing Test series in the West Indies.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed that middle-order batter Towhid Hridoy will not be available for the series due to his own groin injury.
In terms of squad changes, left-handed batter Afif Hossain Dhrubo has been recalled to the squad after a year-long absence. However, batter Zakir Hasan has been dropped from the squad after struggling with his performances against Afghanistan last month. Fast bowler Nahid Rana retains his place in the team following a strong debut against Afghanistan.
The ODI series marks the start of the white-ball leg for Bangladesh, following their two Test matches. After the ODIs, Bangladesh will also play three T20I matches against the West Indies.
